Heidi Huovinen
Heidi Huovinen is a Finnish vegan artist living in Helsinki. She studied fine arts at the Alfa-Art art school, majoring in oil painting. She is currently studying art education at the Aalto University of Art and Design.
Although familiar with lots of different art genres, her main genre is realistic art. Political, provocative, grotesque, ugly – she takes a stand on many global issues through her art, such as animal and human rights, animal exploitation, poverty, religion and also a peek into very intimate topics like pain, gender and sexuality. She also works to commission, for example to paint portraits.
Art is her way to communicate, it is her way of life, it allows her to breathe. Just like Frida Kahlo said: “I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy as long as I can paint.”
