Suzon Lagarde
Suzon Lagarde is an emerging artist, using painting and drawing as a way to question the power of perceptions. Playing with the picture plane, with what is shown and what is hidden, through optical illusions and distorted realism, across diverse medium and scales, she investigates themes dear to her heart such as self-love and veganism.
Studying Portraiture in London, she aims to extend the genre beyond species and to use art as a way to speak up for the animals and to open positive dialogues. When becoming a vegan, and then an activist (Cube of Truth, Challenge 22+), she experienced how much we all perceive life through filters, which can sometimes be far away from reality, and play a big part in dividing us. That’s why her work strives to question, to encourage (ex)changing views, shifting perception, to look at what we have in commun and how we could reconnect. She would like the audience to be active, to connect the dots and look beyond smoke screens.
Member of “the Art of Compassion” collective, she takes part in various events to raise funding and awareness for the animals, recently in the UK, US and Italy. She has also been exhibited at the Free the Voiceless exhibition (Somerset House, London).
